Storytelling
Transgender Identity in Public Life
What do the words trans, transgender or transsexual mean? What is it like for a trans person in the workplace, in the community, or as an artist or cultural worker involved in social change? As more people begin to take notice of trans people and media interest increases, it is important for trans individuals and their allies to speak for themselves to the broader community with an emphasis on overcoming myths, negative stereotypes, and misconceptions. This event is presented in partnership with the Leeway Foundation featuring panelists from Leeway’s board, staff, and grant recipients, joined by staff from the White Dog Cafe who will share their personal stories, observations and art

Storytellings
Storytelling night provides the opportunity to hear the life stories of a variety of peoples and gives voice to underrepresented groups such as ex-offenders, senior citizens, gays, youth, immigrants and homeless people. They also provide a forum to exchange perspectives at a personal level on experiences such as war, civil rights marches, parenting issues, and illness.
